Last week, counselors began visiting social studies classes to share with students in grades 9-11 the Program of Studies for the 2012-2013 school year. Over the next few weeks, students will be selecting courses for next year. There are a few additions and changes to our program. One change in particular is with our Senior English program. Seniors will have the opportunity to select two electives of their choice. We feel that this enhanced student choice model will be favorable to our student population. Over the next few weeks, counselors will be meeting with students to review their course selections. We hosted our annual 8th grade orientation and tech expo last week. If parents of eighth graders have specific scheduling questions, please see your child's middle school guidance counselor. Please review your child's course of study with them during the month of March.
Finally, the end of the month, our sophomores will participate in their ELA MCAS exam. Student attendance is crucial during the testing period. Teachers have been working hard throughout the year to help our students with this state-mandated exam.
*Please note that I will be out-of-state sharing the many successes of PSHS at the NASSP/CSSR Breaking Ranks Showcase in Tampa Florida - thanks to all the students and staff for their hard work in making our high school a "model" for others across the country.
