April is here!

It's hard to believe that we are almost at April vacation...I am sure the seniors cannot believe it!  PSHS is a very busy place these days.  Guidance counselors have finished meeting with students in grades 9-11 to develop their schedule requests for the 2012-2013 school year.  Spring sports are underway and today was the first day of competition for many of our teams.  Good luck to all spring sport athletes and their coaches.

Next week, we are hosting a motivational speaker for our entire student body, Chris Herren.  Chris was a very well-known high school basketball star.  He graduated from Durfee High School in Fall River, MA, and was then recruited for college basketball, and ultimately was drafted by the Celtics.  While he has had an impressive high school career, Chris is coming to speak with our students about his battle with drug addition.  He was very involved with heroin, cocaine, and alcohol.

We are hoping that his message makes a strong impact on our student body.  As principal, I am very concerned about drug use by our students.  We will always prioritize student safety and drug use compromises that safety.  We look forward to sharing feedback from our student body regarding the guest speaker, Chris Herren, on Wednesday, April 11th at 9:00 a.m.
